Internal Affairs

Any person wishing to file a complaint can use the forms below. This form can be filled out and dropped off at the Island Heights Police Department during regular business hours, Monday through Friday at Police Headquarters, One East End Ave, Island Heights, New Jersey. In addition, the form can be completed and sent through the mail to the attention of the Internal Affairs Unit at PO Box 177 Island Heights, New Jersey 08732.

In accordance with the New Jersey Attorney General Guideline for Internal Affairs, you have the right to file a complaint at any time, with any Police Officer or member of the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.

The firearms unit is responsible for conducting background investigations on applicants wishing to obtain a Firearms Id Card / Permit to purchase a handgun and Permit to Carry.

Animal Abuse and Neglect Investigations

Animal Abuse and Neglect investigations now fall under the purview and authority of Municipal Law Enforcement Agencies in New Jersey and such allegations will be investigated by the Island Heights Police Department.  If you witness or need to report an incident of animal abuse or neglect, you may do so by calling the Island Heights Police Department at (732) 270-3000 or by dialing 911 and asking to speak to the Island Heights Police Department.

GENERAL  QUALIFICATIONS

     Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply:

  • Must be between 18 and 35 years of age
  • Must have a valid NJ PTC Certification
  • Must be a High School Graduate
  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Must have a valid New Jerseys Driver’s License
  • Must be in good Physical Health
